70% of all deaths under Israeli fire are women and children. In just 109 days of war in Gaza, some 11,000 children and more than 16,000 women have been killed. More than 60,000 women and children have been wounded, and thousands more have been left homeless. Cities have been reduced to rubble with no electricity or water supply, and former residential buildings are piles of rubble. Israel continues to block the flow of humanitarian aid into the country, leaving the injured and wounded without life support, clothing, food, hygiene products.
These poor women are suffering unbelievably, so we must help them. The lack of water leaves women without the ability to wash off the dirt, blood, sweat, and thick layer of dust. Victims are unable to provide themselves with basic hygiene. They cannot wash their wounds, bacteria enter their bodies, and thousands of women die from blood poisoning, tetanus and other infections.

“We ended up here about two months ago when our house in Jabalia was destroyed. It is very hard here, especially when you have children. Humanitarian aid supplies are helping a lot, but they are too little.
The problem with water and hygiene products is particularly acute. Water is very much in short supply, so we cannot use water to wash our hair, wash our face or take a shower.
When you can’t take a regular shower for over a month, it becomes unbearable. I feel like I have a huge layer of dirt and dust on my skin, it’s really hard to tolerate but I can’t do anything about it yet. It is very hard for me to go through all this and I hope that humanitarian aid can make my life easier” – Fatima Ismail

It is especially difficult for women during their periods because humanitarian aid parcels do not contain feminine hygiene products. They have to use improvised means. This is uncomfortable and can be dangerous.
For many women, regular periods become a serious problem because of the risk of getting an infection. This happens in 30% of cases. But to ask for help with this problem, most women do not dare to seek help, because it may cause judgment.
